Wow! I cant believe it has been so long since I posted anything here on my blog page. With all the other aspects of the business to deal with its always easy to put this end of things on the long finger I suppose until we end up where I am now, with nothing to say for myself for the past two years!
Things are going well. I have shot so many weddings since I last blogged. Louth of course is still my busiest area for wedding photography, but Dublin, Wicklow, Meath and Kildare also take me on my travels. Do I have a favourite wedding venue? I have many favourite wedding venues. They all fall into different categories of favouritism, from the hotel itself, the staff looking after us, onsite photographic opportunities, nearby beauty spots, ease of access, right down to "is the cuppa tea warm on arrival"!
I suppose if I was to present one venue with the prestigious "Reflections Photography Wedding Venue of the Year" award for 2014 it would have to go to the Carrickdale Hotel just north of Dundalk. (Check out www.carrickdale.com). I just like everything about it. From the minute we arrive the team are excellent and cannot do enough for the Bride & Groom and their guests. The beautifully manicured gardens are perfect for photographs offering plenty of variety for both the group shots and the Bride & Groom photo shoot. The drinks reception area has plenty of seating for even the biggest wedding and the banquet room itself is stunning. The food is always excellent and most importantly, at the end of the night I am home in 40 minutes! :-D
So what else is going on? Well I have opened a lovely little studio in Dunleer which is popular for all sorts of shoots from family portraits, childrens' portraits, pet photography and port folio shoots with models, singers and actors. We also provide commercial services from the studio including corporate portraits and product shots. We have a viewing and consultation room which is ideal for couples to sit down over a cup of coffee and enjoy flicking through our range of wedding albums and just get their questions answered in a relaxed informal atmosphere.
Photo shoots, viewings, and consultations are all by appointment only so please contact us by phone or email to arrange your meeting.
So thats enough for now I think. Over the next few weeks I hope to cover all sorts of topics from venue reviews, studio shoots and just general banter. I do have a few wedding fairs coming up over the next couple of weeks. On thursday night we are in City North Hotel on the M1 just south of Drogheda and on Sunday the 22nd of Feb we are splitting ourselves in two as we attend wedding fairs in both The Athlone Springs Hotel (www.athlonespringshotel.com) and the Carlton Hotel at Tyrellstown (www.carltonhotelblanchardstown.com) in Dublin 15. So if you are close by to any of these events on the day drop in and say hi :-)
